Breastfeeding
Tips
- Feed on demand! 8 or more in 24! It could take some time until your baby begins to eat and sleep on a schedule. Until then 8 or more feedings in 24 hours will help make sure your baby is eating enough.
- There is a difference between discomfort and pain. Feeling some discomfort is normal in the first couple weeks. When feeling pain, it is usually because of a bad latch or engorgement. Contact your Breastfeeding Peer Counselor or Lactation Specialist right away for help.
- Lots of Skin-to-Skin, especially in the early weeks, will help your baby latch independently, build your milk supply, regulate baby’s body temperature, and give you two a bond that relaxes you BOTH!
